Background:
HelpYourNGO is an initiative established to encourage philanthropy through increased transparency in the social sector. We offer detailed financials on NGOs that list with us on our website. We recently launched the HYNGO Yearbook 2014. The objective of our venture is to enable donors to view, compare standardised financials of several NGOs before making a donation decision. This initiative is unique in India. It is modelled on the lines of an equity stock portal where investors can view the financial performance of listed companies.
We would like to offer work opportunities to 2 or 3 interns on a pro bono (voluntary) basis for a 6 to 8 week duration. Here are the specs:
Role:
· Classify, enter and upload full financial statements (Income & Expenditure Account and Balance Sheet) of NGOs
· Source new NGOs to list with us
· Liaise with the listed NGO to ensure information is accurate and complete
Knowledge:
· The student should have a deep understanding and aptitude for accounts, specially corporate accounts.
· Prefer students who have completed Second Year
· Interns will be shortlisted on accounting skills and communication skills
· If the intern can bring his or her own laptop that would be a big value add
Learning:
· The intern will get a deep, practical exposure to audited financial statements and annexures
· He/she will be better equipped post this internship, if the career aspiration is equity analysis, data analytics or financial research
· HelpYourNGO is a young organisation. The intern will get a sense of early growth while learning about working in a corporate environment
· Good exposure to the social sector
